#TDAIHJ Day 34 (Yakushima) Miyanoura to Kagoshima (Travel Day).

Tuesday 4 November (Yakushima island to Kyushu island)

Music to mark the hour in the morning.
Experienced the same in the evening the previous day.

For the third day in a row we had no rain in Yakushima. Even at this time of year (a dryer period) it rains one day in three on average i.e. we beat the odds.

After dropping my bag off and breakfast, the next task of the day was to ride the bike the short distance to the ferry terminal so it could be packed into the truck for the ferry.

Heading off to the ferry terminal with Rita and Ruth.
Entering the ferry terminal.
The start of “Tretis’ing” the bikes into the truck for the ferry ride.
Lorna, Haldun, and Colleen

The time to wander the town (and purchase some food/snacks for lunch on the ferry)

Unfortunately the Turtle Museum, as well as other attractions, were closed due to a public holiday (Cultural Day)
View from my rest spot.
Our ferry arriving.
Waiting to be called to board
Securing the ferry
Lunch
Releasing the ferry.
Using one remaining secured rope and side thrust to turn the ferry
They’ve done this before ….!
Goodbye Miyanoura (Yakushima).
At some point during the 4+ hour journey most people succumbed to the desire to sleep.

The wind was very strong but the birds were in their element.
